Position: Research Chemist

Job Duties:

 

Research and study chemical routes for the preparation of chiral synthons from commodity carbohydrates, collect and interpret data, and make decisions on quality and suitability of products for final use by applying full range of organic synthesis techniques      and methods of characterization and separation, such as 1D- and 2D-NMR, FT-IR, UV, MS, Flash Column, Gel Filtration, Reverse Phase Chromatography, TLC, Ion Exchange    Chromatography, HPLC and GC etc.; Develop process for kilogram scale production of          chemical intermediates from commodity carbohydrates and for cost effective commercial production; Prepare process reports for technology transfer to manufacturing organizations and patent filings to secure IP; Manage projects and lab safety in compliance with government regulations

Supervise and train laboratory assistants.

Requirements: A Ph.D. in Synthetic Organic Chemistry with a specialization in carbohydrate chemistry plus 1 year job related exp in pharmaceutical research is required
